This site was born when I thought about what I wanted my own next stage of life to be as I turned fifty.  I still wanted it to be about travel, always one of my passions, but I wanted it to be about the kind of travel important to me today as a Baby Boomer—doing interesting things in great places with fun people who are special in my life.  I also wanted my life to be about meeting new people, discovering new cultures, trying something out such as a new interest, or maybe even trying on a new way of life!

As I talked with my friends, I found that they had similar feelings about what they want from their lives and travel.   Friends who had devoted much of their adult lives to climbing the corporate ladder and achieving wanted to step off, or maybe just step away for a bit to act like a kid again or relax at a spa.   Many wanted to give back to their global community by volunteering while they vacation or by looking at ways they can travel responsibly, and help protect and heal the planet.   Other friends who had been raising children and tending families felt free at last to think about what they want next for themselves and finally pursue a passion they had put on hold or learn something new, like those French lessons they promised themselves or a wine tasting course in Italy.

All of us seemed to be spending time taking stock of our lives up to this point and rededicating ourselves to making the next phase of our lives filled with meaning and fun.  The kind of travel that interests us now reflects that.  The BoomVoyage team has worked hard to bring together the information and tools that you need to re-energize and customize your travel to who you are today.  We know you’ve “been there and done that,” but are always looking for ways to go again and have as much fun as you did on your very first trip.
