Through a home exchange program, like HomeExchange.com, you list your home for an annual fee. You then search for homes in vacation destinations you want to see, and you and the other homeowner agree to house swap for a pre-arranged period. The savings on hotels means that the service more than pays for itself after one night. Most people who try the experience say that the real benefit, however, is experiencing a destination the way a local does. Members can choose to exchange cars, offering further savings, and homes can sometimes be exchanged for alternative accommodations, such as yachts or RVs.
